The Axis Drive marine propulsion system is the brainchild of South African entrepreneur Mike Beachy Head who has led the engineering team to develop the concept from inception to its first production phase.

Borne out of the frustration of his previous marine propulsion system, Mike embarked on redesigning a marine drive that would meet his needs as a boat user as well as ensuring the OEM boat builder's expectations were also met.

The objectives set were the following:
1. Combine the best features of stern drives and outboards in a single design 
2. Add significant features not offered by any engine / drive manufacturer
3. Offer a propulsion system to serve most stern drive and outboard applications with a single design.
4. Provide unprecedented simplicity of installation for the OEM
5. Provide unprecedented simplicity of maintenance
6. Provide premier level of aftermarket service, warranty and support

An extensive development program by Caudwell Marine and our engineering partners, including big names such as Xtrac Gears, Cosworth Racing, Ilmor, MBE systems and FORD, set new standards in overall efficiency.
