Caudwell Marine’s International Marketing Manager, Lloyd Williams says,” Local and international investment upwards of R250 million has seen the business grow from project phase to launch readiness in October 2008. A further R50 million investment is expected to be rolled out over the next 18 months. The latest investment into the “F1’’ designed engine build and assembly area will provide a world class facility to produce the first propulsion systems.
“The project has provided additional employment opportunities for up to 80 people in its current phase, with further opportunities for growth to follow as the product range is extended to include diesel units. As the business comes on line with US boat builders, expansion to a larger product facility will be required to accommodate demand. Local suppliers have been involved with critical elements of the development and are expected to provide up to 35% of the supply bill of materials going forward. “
